Stenocereus griseus. also known as the Mexican Giant Cane Cactus or Grey Ghost Cactus. is a tall columnar cactus native to Mexico. Here are some care tips for this cactus:
Light:
- It needs full. direct sunlight. At least 6-8 hours of bright sunlight per day.
- In indoor conditions. place it near a sunny. south or west-facing window.
Water:
- Water thoroughly. but allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
- During the growing season (spring-fall). water when the top few inches of soil are dry.
- Reduce watering in winter when growth is minimal.
- Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
Soil:
- Use a well-draining cactus/succulent potting mix.
- Add extra grit like perlite or coarse sand to improve drainage.
Temperature:
- Warm temperatures between 70°F-90°F (21°C-32°C) during the day and cooler at night.
- Can tolerate light frost but protect from hard freezes below 28°F (-2°C).
Fertilizer:
- Apply a balanced. diluted fertilizer during the growing season.
- No fertilizer is needed in winter when dormant.
