Euphorbia heptagona. also known as the Patrio or Polka Dot Cactus. is not a true cactus but a succulent euphorbia native to Africa. Here are some care tips:

Light:

- Bright. direct sunlight is essential. Provide at least 6 hours of direct sun per day.

- Can tolerate some light shade. but too little light will cause etiolation (stretching).

Water:

- Allow the soil to completely dry out between waterings.

- In spring/summer. water thoroughly when the soil is dry.

- Reduce watering in winter to once a month or less when dormant.

- Excellent drainage is a must to prevent root rot.

Soil:

- Use a well-draining cactus/succulent soil mix.

- Add extra perlite. pumice or coarse sand to increase drainage.

Temperature:

- Warm temperatures of 65-85°F (18-29°C) in spring/summer.

- Cooler temps of 50-60°F (10-15°C) in winter help induce dormancy.

- Avoid freezing temperatures.

Humidity:

- Prefers lower humidity levels below 40%.

- Good airflow helps prevent rot and pests.

Fertilizer:

- Feed every 2-4 weeks during the growing season with a diluted cactus fertilizer.

- No feeding is needed in winter.

The Polka Dot Cactus is relatively easy to care for but very sensitive to overwatering. Allow the soil to completely dry and provide excellent drainage. Its unique striped patterns look striking in bright light.
