Astrophytum ornatum. also known as the Bishop's Cap or Monk's Hood cactus. is a small. globular cactus native to Mexico. Here are some tips for caring for this cactus:

 

Light:

- Astrophytum ornatum requires full. direct sunlight. Provide at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day.

- In hot climates. protect it from intense afternoon sun to prevent sunburn.

 

Water:

- Water sparingly. allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

- During the growing season (spring-fall). water when the soil is completely dry.

- In winter. reduce watering to once a month or less.

- Avoid overwatering. as it can lead to root rot.

 

Soil:

- Use a well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix.

- Add extra grit or perlite to improve drainage.

- Avoid heavy. moisture-retaining soils.

 

Temperature:

- Astrophytum ornatum prefers warm temperatures between 70°F and 90°F (21°C to 32°C).

- It can tolerate temperatures as low as 40°F (4°C) for short periods but should be protected from frost.
